week 7 10/8/10

It is important for readers to understand what is happening in their books, who the characters are and what the theme is. In your response, outline the following: Plot, Setting, Characters, and Universal Theme. Provide evidence to support your thinking from your book.

i am reading skeleton creek by Patrick Carmen.the characters are Ryan and Shara and there the good guys and Therese parents which are the bad guys . the universally theme of my book is how society acts or react like in the video if shows Shara reacts to something in the hunted house.right now plot is like the problem and the problem is that there parents are finding out that there going to the hunted house.it tacks place at there house to the hunted house.

  1. Andrew,

Did you really look over your notes, and the blog checklist really well? Did you do everything? I know you spell checked - and you did a great job. Some words are still being used wrong (there for their and tacks for takes). But I don't think you did #3, #5, or #7 on the checklist! Maybe you should have done that on Friday. Start taking notes when you read and writing your response out on paper first.
What is the word for good guy and bad guy (check your notes on character)? How do you know this? Quotes from book?
Your right that "how society reacts" is your universal theme, and you give an example (use quotes and page numbers). However, what type of reaction is this? : racism, celebration, fighting, fear but extreme curiosity? what?
Bespecific on setting - whose house, what town and state, where is the haunted building - not a house Andrew. What is the building called( starts with a D)?
As for plot - if you were to give me a summary of what has happended so far, then you would be outlining the plot.

I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS RESPONSE. Andrew, worry less about being a PBS and showing off and more about being the awesome student I know you can be. Even Sergio has to push himself because he takes the easy way. But he will push.

3-4 PP- You showed a limited understanding of the assignment and expectations as well as some awareness of your choices in your work. The assignment showed some imagination but the details and development need work.

  4. Andrew,

How does the characters world compare to the world you live in now? How can you describe what the character is feeling?
