week three book blog

Week 3: April 18 - April 22, 2011

Week 3 RR? - Understanding my character(s)
(Be sure to include quote and page number!!)
You must use at LEAST 2 quotes from the book.
Understanding your character is a good way for you to really get into your book and see from another person's perspective. In your response this week, describe your character. Think about and discuss:
-1. your main character's personality
- 2. how they act/behave
- 3. what they look like
- 4. how old they are
- 5 what sort of education do you think that they have
- 6 who their friends and family are
- 7 what their financial (money) situation is
- 8 and what their job is (if they have one).

I'm reading a book called Sounder by William Armstrong. My main character is the boy. The boy acts like the man of the house because he's the one providing the food and cleaning. I got the description of him by the cover of the book because the author never says it. He looks like an educated kid because he has a book in his hand. He is a black kid with short hair. The boy is 13 or 14 because he has a dog, and all kids at the age of 13 or 14 want a dog because I'm 14 and I have a dog.

The boy was going to school but his mom told him to not go anymore on page 3 the boy's mom said "give it up child".... He has a mom, dad, and a dog named sounder. He has no friend because in the book it said on page 4 "every body would make fun of me because I would always be late to school", that makes me think he has no friends. The financial situation of the family is they are very poor because in the book it said "we have to hunt for food with Sounder helping us sniff out the prey." Right now the boy's job is to hunt for food and keep the family safe while  the dad is in jail.

week 2-reading response

The title of my book is Sounder by William Armstrong. If I came up with a name for the title of the book it would be Hearing or Whisper.I chose those titles because its the same thing as Sounder. My amazing catch phrase is, "the grass is greener on the other side", which means that other people have better things and he wants it.

The movie poster of my book would be a kid with curly hair and a mole on his check is whispering to the other kid. He's talking to a kid with a Mohawk and with a smile on his face. Next to the curly hair kids mouth There are waves going to the other kids ear which represents the whispering.Next to the kids head  there are names. My title which is hearing will be on top of the book with a crazy font and with mouths on each corner on the letters. The color of the title will be a blue color representing hard working.

Give the title, author, publisher, copyright date, genre (how do you know the genre - from the back of the book, the title page, the text?), a description of the cover of the book, and the main character(s) you have met so far and on what page you first met them.

The title of my book is Sounder by William H.Armstrong. Copyright was 1969, publish by Harper Collins. Sounder is a realistic fiction because anything in the story can happen and nothing weird  like trees talking or animals talking.my book look like with a African American kid with a light brown color dog, on the bottom right corner there new Berry medal which mean it a very good children book.my first character i met is called the boy on page 1. on page 2,3 introduced the mom, dad, and sounder the bog.My main character is sounder and the boy.
